OECD Public Procurement Week: Business Advances Dialogue on Fair and Efficient Procurement

Our global network actively contributed to the OECD’s Public Procurement Week, emphasising how procurement can drive competitiveness, trade, and supply chain resilience. Our Governance and Regulatory Policy Committee Vice-Chair and Ibec's Aidan Sweeney recommended that the OECD quantify the impact of procurement policies on public spending and trade, safeguard non-discrimination for foreign bidders, and explore effective legal remedies and mediation tools. BASF’s Alessandro Pistillo joined discussions on supply chain resiliency, highlighting the need for harmonised sustainability metrics, greater data digitalisation, and stronger market incentives that reward credible sustainability performance. Going forward, Business at OECD will continue to support OECD efforts to strengthen procurement frameworks that promote transparency, efficiency, and open markets.
