On 27-28 April 2026 in Istanbul in Türkiye, Business at OECD actively contributed to the OECD Skills Summit, co-hosted with the Republic of Türkiye under the theme “Unlocking Talent Across Generations”. The Skills Summit engaged policymakers, experts, and stakeholders around three core priorities: equipping young people with strong foundations for lifelong learning; supporting adults to upskill and reskill throughout longer working lives; and unlocking the potential of under-represented and overlooked groups. Our delegation led by our Executive Director Hanni Rosenbaum and our Employment, Labour, and Social Affairs Committee Chair and the Adecco Group’s Bettina Schaller emphasised the need for formal education and learning systems to prioritise employability, adaptability, and skills relevance in response to rapidly evolving labour market demands.

As a contribution to the Ministerial discussions, we organised a first-of-a-kind Business at OECD dedicated side event to the Skills Summit on “The Role of Business in Supporting Lifelong Skills”. The event provided the opportunity to present our five strategic priorities from our report on “Education for a More Resilient Future”, that will shape future work on education and skills, including modernising curricula, strengthening the teaching profession, re-inforcing lifelong learning, advancing vocational education and work-based learning, and investing in digital infrastructure.
