Group Calls Global Collaboration on Tax Incentives ‘Restrictive’

A “net social benefit” isn’t the only justification that should drive whether a country decides to adopt a tax incentive, a business group argued in a letter to the Platform for Collaboration on Tax, an intergovernmental organisation initiative. “We believe it is unduly restrictive to state that tax incentives are only warranted if they provide a net “social” benefit, as there may be other benefits that may not be directly linked to “social” benefits or immediately quantifiable, such as job creation, workforce development, increase in capital investment, etc.,” Business at OECD, or BIAC, wrote in a comment letter
